Sound Opinions: SZA – Sobriety

WOW! I had to play this a few times, not because I didn’t understand the song, but because I understood it so well.  SZA’s “Sobriety” is easily one of those songs that hits you right in the feels, rips through it, and smashes it into a million pieces (and even this doesn’t match the imagery presented to us). SZA drops this new track produced by Chris Calor, Cody, Thundercat, LoveDragon and Sounwave. Speaking on some serious topics, the TDE songstress travels through her feelings seemingly about how “fame” doesn’t change your personal situations and how love (in many different forms) can keep you drunk (again, in more ways than one). Painting a picture for us that we can reach out and touch, cry at, throw s*** at, and talk to softly all in the duration of this song. Proclaiming she’s going to be good and successful in spite of the discouraging situations over the hook, this is definitely one to play while riding to work in this chilly NYC weather.
