Sound Opinions: Laya LaRoché – Won’t Be Long (Prod. Kareem Wright)

Sleepless nights aside, I love finding new music from artists I personally follow, and the universe has rewarded me. Laya LaRoché has dropped this gem titled “Won’t Be Long” and it’s a great way to start my morning to say the least. Produced by Kareem Wright, this song instantly snapped me back to a simpler time. A time when I was staring at the sky with my CD player listening to the uplifting songs of the early 2000s. When I didn’t have a work meeting in 4 hours. It feels fun, hypnotic, visions of Whitney flashed across my mind a couple plays in. This feels good.

From the muddy sub bass grounding the trance-like, sharp, off-time piano, to the harmonies and positive message about looking forward, Laya is definitely taking chances and expanding beyond her pleasantly haunting first project.

Wish her a Happy Belated!
