Soul Clap: Willow Smith – “Female Energy” [Freestyle]

The music that Willow Smith is capable of producing at just 13 years old is very impressive.  This little lady is far removed from her “Whip My Hair” style of music.  It sounds like Willow has, for the most part, figured out who she is and what she’s here to share and what she’s sharing isn’t any of that cheesy teeny bopper music that artists her age usually produce.

Taking a page from Jhené Aiko’s book and a few lyrics from “The Pressure”, Willow’s new freestyle, “Female Energy,” has a very spacey vibe as she plants her open mind into the beat.

The second verse is really where the song’s connection to its title, “Female Energy,” is made clearer.

Whatever, I guess. Whatever

I don’t care. Get dressed, whatever

I don’t feel like talking

Sounds like some female energy to me!  After hearing this I may keep listening out for more music from Willow Smith.  I’m digging what she did with this “Female Energy” freestyle.  Check it out below …

Ayanna has always had a love for music, pen and paper. Since her young days of Whitney Houston being played in her Brooklyn brownstone and scribbling in her Lisa Frank diaries, her passion for the three have only grown. She followed her pen and paper and graduated from Penn State in 2011 with a degree in Print Journalism. Shortly after Ayanna began writing for Hipolitics, a site geared toward making social consciousness hip. She was also brought on board as the Reality Check blogger for Now, she's following the music. She currently owns her own R&B-focused blog "sharing dopeness" that her own ears love to hear.
