Soul Clap: Kehlani drops long-awaited “Cloud 19” mixtape

Kehlani called up the squad and hit studios with a team of producers, including Swagg R’Celious,  Jahaan Sweet and Prophit, and got busy on her new 8-track mixtape Cloud 19.

She’s only 19, but listening to some of the stories she’s telling on Cloud 19 it’s easy to believe that she’s been on this earth for much longer.  On “Deserve Better” she speaks about the journey she’s taken in life that brought her to the realization that she deserves much more.

Kehlani is definitely grown with it and don’t try to tell her any different.  If you listen to “1st Position,” you wouldn’t even need to question her. On the Swagg R’Celious-produced track the Cali artist is confident that she can show the one she’s after what it feels like to be with a lady.

I’ve been impatiently waiting for this project for a while now and I’m very pleased with how she delivered.  All of the songs on this mixtape sound like it was her heart that grabbed the pen and wrote the lyrics, but there’s one song on Cloud 19 that’s undeniably my favorite and that’s “How We Do Us.”  Singer (and now one of my favorites) Kyle Dion joined Kehlani and created their 2014 lovers version of Montell Jordan’s classic “This Is How We Do It.”

Listen to Kehlani’s new mixtape Cloud 19 and let me know which tracks make you feel good!
