Soul Clap: Chrisette Michele – “The Lyricists’ Opus”

Yesterday, I realized that I’ve been vibing to Chrisette Michele’s latest gift to music for a couple weeks now and I hadn’t even shared it with our TakeOvah fam!

Late November the R&B Diva released the musical composition she envisioned, her 5-song EP The Lyricists’ Opus.

As she foresees it in the EP’s intro–a conversation with her boyfriend and musician, Justin Lyons–The Lyricists’ Opus is “one long piece with five movements”.  Although each song has a different story to tell, each song instrumentally flows into the next.  The jazzy everlasting love story she sings about in “Forever” flows into the country story about how love makes her feel on “Hennessy Shot,” which flows into her gospel-influenced “Make Us One”.

Chrisette’s new EP is a positive and light-hearted musical masterpiece.  Love it!
