Set in a Park Slope church and a local bar, the Rook C directed video comes as the perfect backdrop for the loaded single, which takes fans for a walk through the tough Brooklyn life that Rob knows. The lyrics, inked with first-hand accounts of hustling, prison visits and a dangerous encounter that could’ve turned fatal. While the scenes are dichotomous in essence, they cleverly spotlight a unifying desire for hope (and coping) whether you’re kneeling at an altar or behind a bottle.
”]Markman’s introduction as an artist has been a long time dream of his, as he grew up making mixtapes and battling other rappers as a teen. Though his career took off as a journalist before rap, his project Write To Dream serves as an inspirational statement (and an entendre) that you have the right to dream as big as you want and it’s never too late to fulfill those dreams.
Check out Rob Markman’s video “I Don’t Wanna Wait” ft. Kirby Maurier below and be sure to listen to his debut project Write To Dream for a permanent dose of inspiration.

]]>Armed with a soulful sound and a pillowy falsetto, French croons over the Dilemma & Anthony Decarlo produced track intently nabbing the attention of the lady in his life. As she’s plagued with a bad case of the Mondays, he commits to changing her mood with the simple pleasures only her man could provide.
“Cuz that’s what your man is for…holding you down ,getting your bags out the car…”
While “Monday Morning” is a fresh sound for the summer, the Philly native repurposes The Commodores classic “Easy” for the foundation for the hook; seamlessly weaving vintage R&B into contemporary concepts. The same master fusion was recently heard on his last release “Darling Baby” ft Annie Miller which premiered on Apple’s Beats1. As Philly rapidly comes a home base for budding creatives, there’s no doubt that Bean French will be the one to beat in the R&B circuit.
Fellas, take notes. Ladies, you’re welcome. Check out Beano French‘s new single “Monday Morning” below.

]]>Difficulty of Being An Artist
Being a music artist is not easy. The notion of being both an artist and a businessperson can seem to one of contradiction. However, the team at Opus, headed by Danny Hyon, is working to help strengthen the careers of artists with their networking and revenue generation tool.
“As record sales become harder for independent artists to rely on, the importance of revenue and networking from live shows and events is key to developing fans and sustaining a career,” remarks Marcus “MH the Verb” Harris, a Philadelphia-based performer and music producer.
Tools like Opus can really help artists manage their booking and build solid relationships with venues and supporters.
“Many independent artists leave money on the table simply because they lack the time, resources, and skills necessary to maximize opportunities in booking live shows.”
Booking apps like Opus can also help artists address an even greater hurdle: finding their sound and brand.
“Live shows and performances are crucial to any artist’s development in finding their creative individual artist on and off the stage,” argues artist development expert, Livingston Steele.
“Opus helps all artists’ alike get started and explore their true nature and sound on stage.”
How Opus is Making Gigs and Talent Easier to Find
The process of securing performance opportunities is often bogged down by scores of emails, scattered Soundcloud and Youtube links, poorly written contracts, and sometimes, disputes on pay and deliverables. Opus’s mobile and web application address these hurdles.
The platform manages all payments and agreements, allowing for both the event host and the artist to avoid awkward disagreements and disputes.
In addition to gaining valuable income from performances, the platform allows for artists to receive more chances to simply perform collect feedback from audiences and the event host, helping themselves to become better performers.
“Tools, like Opus can really help artists manage their booking and build solid relationships with venues and supporters. Opus can help with organization and negotiation in a way that artists can build a solid foundation for touring and make the best lasting impression on their fan base,” says Harris.
“Opus helps all artists’ alike get started and explore their true nature and sound on stage.”
Along with tools like Soundcloud, Bandcamp, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, and Mailchimp, Opus serves as a useful marketing vehicle, allowing artists to showcase their performance portfolio as well as to network with other musicians and form mutually beneficial relationships.
Artists can now visit the app’s website and gain access to the beta version of the platform and begin uploading their information and content to the website. Simply enter your Full Name and Email and the Opus team will get back to you regarding your new account with the application.
It’s time for independent artists to level up their careers and Opus App, can help. Be sure to check them out and let us know your thoughts.

Produced by TK, “Lemonade” does a good job at blending trap sounds with a narrative that simultaneously pushes dream chasing beyond public perception and goal-getting.

]]>The newest addition to Daniel’s catalogue, “This City” shares a reflection of a love that is on its last breath, consumed by the hustle and lights of one of the most coveted tourist stops in the nation- New York City. With intoxicating production and Daniel’s signature falsetto, “This City” manages to tug at your heartstrings and take you back to the love you once had- that you once lost.
“This City tells the story of a love consumed by the city it was created in. It’s about trying to find a way to still hold on to what is most precious to you; all while knowing it’s flawed without losing it forever in this city. My theme music for New York.”
The new single comes to us after Daniel’s release of “Havoc”– both off his forthcoming project coming this Fall. Check out “This City” by Adrian Daniel below.

]]>A record from his debut album Return of The Cool, the Culture Republic stamped spitter takes his killer bars into a spooky mansion, filled with the makings of a new age horror film. Maintaining his cool demeanor whilst being circled by faceless hypemen and fire-breathing hosts, Grant breathes life into the gritty record with colorful images and a classic Chevy on hydraulics.
The South Carolina-born MC is rising as one of the most watched acts in Hip Hop- with his revival of lyricism in a way quite opposite from his current class of competition. With records like “Bouncin'” it’s easily understood why he’s deemed far ahead of his time.
Watch Nick Grant’s new video for Bouncin’ below, and be sure to catch him at the Made In America Festival this September.

]]>The post Premiere: Wordsmiff Releases New Single, “Limelight” ft Fi appeared first on The TakeOvah.
]]>Produced by Omni Beats, “Limelight” gives off an effervescence that’ll force you into an unconscious two step while questioning if you should still Milly Rock to it. The answer, of course, is yes. Paired with the sultry voice of frequent collaborator Fi, the track completely peels pack the usual, tough posterior Wordsmiff has given us in past offerings and forces you to let your hair down, get in your bag and have fun.
“I chose this record because it’s me. I like to have fun and also show love to the culture. I showed love to The Spinners and Kid N’ Play because people don’t talk about them anymore- but I could take that [sound] and make it something fresh and new. I wanted to return not with the same flow everyone is doing, but still something to say I’m back.”
Months removed from his last project Can A N*gga Dream, Wordsmiff is using “Limelight” as the first of a slew of loosies that we can expect this year, but there are no plans for a new project just yet. “I gave people 4 projects in 2 years and people are always like ‘where’s the new music?’ Like what?” says Smiff. “So I just want to gear up and give you guys a good album. I’m starting all over.”
“You’re gonna hear a lot more different sounds from me. Sounds I knew I could do but haven’t ventured into. I got “Return of the Boombap” coming right after “Limelight” and you’ll hear the difference in me.
A new summer staple for your cookout playlist, listen to Wordsmiff’s new single “Limelight” below and keep your eyes peeled to what the Brooklyn native has coming next here.

]]>The post PREMIERE: RELL CA$H NEW SINGLE “T4$” appeared first on The TakeOvah.
]]>Using soulful horns as the backdrop for his bars, “T4$” brings forth an unexpected, dichotomous illustration of a trapper’s lifestyle that feels good enough for you to dance to. “The focus was to give the listener a product they could feel” says Ca$h, an entendre of sorts as the record dives into his drug-laden environment.
“Tired of livin dormant, cuz cutting heroin up wit the dormins”
“T4$” (Trappin 4 Cash) follows the Milwaukee native’s EP Slaylist, a playlist of songs recorded over notable instrumentals including Jhene Aiko’s “The Worst” and Aaliyah’s “Rock The Boat”. Most notably across every track is the rapper’s smooth flow- reminiscent of some of his New York influences and a welcomed surprise from someone with a Midwest upbringing.
It’s a challenge because I’m not the typical “Milwaukee” sound, but the lifestyle is all the same. But knowing that I’m not the norm reminds me that I’m in a lane of my own so all across the board I see that as something positive.”
Take a listen to Rell Ca$h’s new single “T4$” and enjoy the video below, exclusively premiered on The TakeOvah.

Join us as we examine five combinations that would be music to our ears and hopefully will one day come to musical fruition.
