Brooklyn-based rapper Casanova misses his friend.
With a new song and video “Tax Letter”, Casanova pens an ode to his friend and beloved podcaster Taxstone. Taxstone was arrested earlier this year after for alleged involvement in the Irving Plaza shooting that resulted in the death of rapper Troy Ave’s bodyguard.
Over a sample of Jay-Z’s “Song Cry” (produced by GQ BEATS), Casanova reminisces for the duration of the track, spotlighting moments with Taxstone that fans of both personalities would appreciate. The pain is apparent on the heartfelt release, as Casanova credits the podcaster as being an integral part of his budding success.
“Dear beloved how you holding up?/ Whips still moving we ain’t slowing up. / Wish you was right here rolling up/ I got songs with Chris Brown man I’m blowing up./ That fed case hit me like a car crash./ But I still listen to ya podcast. / On the beat, they miss you in the streets. / Who else gonna bring that heat like that interview with Meek? / In the Wraith still drinking D’usse with the chase. / You use to get that shit by the case. / And the Bevel, they calling you a devil / You went against the grain you was more like a rebel.”
The “Don’t Run” rapper prepares for his forthcoming mixtape Be Safe Tho (a popular tagline from TaxStone’s Tax Season podcast) on March 17th. Until then watch Casanova’s new video dedication to Taxstone, “Tax Letter” below.
