A Word from Robin J.

Hey there!

I’m Robin J., founder of this here website TheTakeOvah.com. If you’ve been rocking with The TakeOvah for awhile, thank you for your continued support. I appreciate you. If you’re visiting us for the first time, welcome. I hope this time won’t be your last.

If you HAVE been here before this looks different to you. As we approach our 1 year anniversary online, we’ve been offered the opportunity to expand in a way that I didn’t expect in our short amount of time online and I have all of you, to thank for that. So I thought it was time for something new. A fresh design, mobile capabilities, more posts, a bigger staff..ya know. ALL DAT ALL DAT 🙂

When I started TakeOvah Radio at Brooklyn College in 2010, I had one purpose…to expose up and coming talent. NYC is choc full of creatives: musicians, painters, writers..you name it and it exists here, but few of them have a platform to share their art. As we grew to the top spot in the college radio charts I thought “hmm…we’re on to something, but how can we make this bigger better?” Thus, we have TheTakeOvah.com

My mission remains the same. The TakeOvah is a place for creatives to share their craft without competition of the mainstream media getting in the way. There’s no gossip here. If you want that, you’re on the wrong site. No KimYe drama, no karate kicks in elevators…just awesome talent and a few dope interviews to introduce you to the people we meet along the way. We’re no longer focusing on creatives just in the NYC area. We’ve broken down the state line barriers and we’re looking for people all over the nation. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or how big your “buzz” is, if you’ve got it we want it.

To my team, thank you for your endless dedication. To our readers, you’re incredible. Thank you. To every creative with a talent to share…We’ve got you covered. Here’s to Year 2.

Robin J.

The fearless leader of TheTakeovah.com, Robin J. got her start in radio in 2010, creating a platform for under represented musicians and other artists to share their talent. Taking it to the web, she's set out to change the way the world looks at Indie/ re-emerging artists and bring back the appreciation for the new music. When she's not combing through TakeOvah music submissions, she's fake harmonizing at R&B shows, hosting local events and flirting with Starbucks baristas for free espresso shots.
